Traditionally, many of us have only really decorated our homes for the festive season. However, in recent years it has become popular to match our interior accessories with the changing seasons. Whether that is following the usual seasons of spring, summer, autumn and winter. Or by marking religious or other types of festivals such as Easter, the Summer solstice, Diwali or Bonfire Night. Perhaps you have also started to embrace the American tradition of decorating your home for Halloween?

Here at Peony Faux Flowers, we have long been a fan of updating our interiors with the changing seasons. From swapping our summer arrangements for autumnal ones to changing the wreaths on our front door, we love to embrace each new season. However, we know that some of you might find this idea a little daunting. This is why we would like to share our top interior styling tips for autumn and winter.

Interior Styling Tip One: Create a Warm Welcome

A really easy way to embrace any new season is by decorating your front door or entrance way. In the autumn months we will be hanging our autumn wreath on our front door before switching it for something a little more festive come December. You could also consider adding seasonal plants and flowers either side of your front door. Or decorating with outdoor lights to create an even warmer welcome for visiting family and loved ones.

Interior Styling Tip Two: Update Your Arrangements For The New Season

If you, like us, have Peony arrangements in nearly every room of your home, then a really easy interior styling tip for the new season is to change a few stems in each display. For example, perhaps you have an arrangement of roses, peonies and summer foliage. Why not consider swapping the peonies for chrysanthemums or summer foliage for autumn berries or phosphorescent foliage? You will be amazed at how just changing a few stems can make such a difference to an existing arrangement.

Interior Styling Tip Three: Add a Floral Fragrance

At this time of year, the combination of colder weather and longer nights means that most of us keep our doors and windows firmly closed. Unfortunately this can mean that the air in our homes can feel a little stale, especially if we have pets. Whilst we like to let the air in on warmer, sunnier days, this is not something you want to do on a damp, wet November. This is why we like to add a subtle hint of floral fragrance to our homes. Whether this is in the form of spraying our arrangements with a spritz of one of our flower fragrances, or by lighting a scented candle, they all help to lift our moods and our interiors.

Enjoy The New Season

We hope you have found our interior styling tips for autumn and winter helpful. And that they have given you the confidence to decorate your home all year round, rather than just for Christmas. If you’ve decided to embrace the new season in your home by updating your arrangements or adding a seasonal wreath then we would love to hear from you. Share your images with us on social media or drop us an email so that we can let everyone see your fabulous floral arrangements!
